Captain Nikos was born on Aegina Island and grew up in a family with a strong maritime history. Both his grandparents made a living working in the industry, one as a fisherman and the other as a Kaiki (the traditional wooden fishing boat) boat builder. Their legacy is still strong on the island and the art of traditional boat building is still kept alive by Captain Nikos’ uncle, who now owns and operates the biggest boat yard on the island. His upbringing has been fundamental in shaping his love for the sea and passion for luxury yachting.
Graduating from the Marine Academy of Hydra, one of the most historical marine academies in the world, he has over 16 years of experience in the marine industry.
He has served as Chief Officer in unlimited tonnage cruise ships for companies such as Celestial and Thomson Cruises. A major part of his responsibilities during that time was crew safety training and crew safety drills which explains his continuous and uncompromising commitment to safety.
Having accumulated considerable experience in the Cruise industry he transitioned to luxury yachting, starting with the 80m M/Y Tueq owned by the Saudi Arabia royal family where he served as safety officer and relief staff captain.
He served in the same position on another landmark yacht, the 148m ‘Prince Abdulaziz’ where he spent several years before getting his first captaincy on the 30m Sunseeker M/Y Lost, followed by the 38m jet propelled charter yacht M/Y Clorinda.
Cruising most of the seas around the world he prefers the clarity of the Mediterranean with its beautiful blue and safe waters. Captain Nikos enjoys making the yacht child-friendly and well equipped with water toys for all the family. He is charming, energetic, kind and enthusiastic. In his free time, he enjoys, traveling, jet ski rides and good food.
